Several members of the Flushing Women’s club attended the 127th Annual GFWC Michigan Convention in April 2022 held in Grand Rapids.
The convention allowed GWFC members from all over the state of Michigan to meet, interact, review the activities that clubs have engaged in within the past year and enjoy spending time celebrating this unique sisterhood.
One of the many highlights of the convention included celebrating Women of Achievement from many clubs across the state. The Flushing club selected Judy Tidball for her dedication to community, family and her selfless example of giving and volunteerism. Congratulations Judy!
In addition, new state officers were elected and installed in office and new district presidents were also installed. Diane LaBree was installed as the GFWC MI 2nd Vice President and Carolyn Bailey was installed as the President of the East Central District. We congratulate them both on their new roles and wish them continues success!
Another notable convention moment included the presence of Marian Simmons-St. Clair, GFWC International President. Marian gave a very moving speech about the role of GFWC and its members in helping to shape policy and legislation pertaining to equality and equity for women and children.
The Flushing Women’s club won several awards at the convention, most notably, Club of the Year in Tier II.
