2022 Art in the Park

The 56th annual Art in the Park sponsored by the GFWC Flushing Women’s Club will be held at Riverview Park in downtown Flushing on Saturday June 4th from 9am to 4pm.
This event consists of artists from all over the state of Michigan and is a juried show with all items handmade.  There will be vendors with pottery, metal yard art, unique jewelry, hand painted canvas and framed pictures and much more.
Throughout the years, our Art in the Park has become the perfect place to find special gifts for family and friends.  We also have several food trucks and other food venues on sight so you can enjoy a relaxing lunch or break from shopping.
Our Flushing Women’s Club is very involved with education and reading for our grade schools.  If you would like to help us promote reading for children, please bring a new or gently used book to our Club tent so we can distribute them throughout the schools. While at out tent, you can also purchase raffle tickets on a collapsible wagon filled with summer items.  All proceeds from our event are donated back into the community throughout the year.

If you are interested in becoming a vendor at Art in the Park, please download the application/instructions here: 2022 Art in the Park Artist Application

127th Annual GFWC MI State Convention

Several members of the Flushing Women’s club attended the 127th Annual GFWC Michigan Convention in April 2022 held in Grand Rapids.

The convention allowed GWFC members from all over the state of Michigan to meet, interact, review the activities that clubs have engaged in within the past year and enjoy spending time celebrating this unique sisterhood.

One of the many highlights of the convention included celebrating Women of Achievement from many clubs across the state. The Flushing club selected Judy Tidball for her dedication to community, family and her selfless example of giving and volunteerism.  Congratulations Judy!

In addition, new state officers were elected and installed in office and new district presidents were also installed. Diane LaBree was installed as the GFWC MI 2nd Vice President and Carolyn Bailey was installed as the President of the East Central District.  We congratulate them both on their new roles and wish them continues success!

Another notable convention moment included the presence of Marian Simmons-St. Clair, GFWC International President.  Marian gave a very moving speech about the role of GFWC and its members in helping to shape policy and legislation pertaining to equality and equity for women and children.

The Flushing Women’s club won several awards at the convention, most notably, Club of the Year in Tier II.
